FLAG OF CONVENIENCE     N°1 FROISSÉE   Installation 2015 Polyurethane resin and 24k gilding on canevas. Format : 120F (195x135cm)      FLAG OF CONVENIENCE N°1 FROISSÉE is an installation which consists in an 120F canvas gilded with 24K gold leaves settled in a natural context Gilded by more than thousand 24K gold leaves (8X8bb), F.O.C constitute the largest 24K gilded canvas ever created..     The canvas itself shall be marked Froissée due to the pattern of the polyurethane resin fold down to it. As many golden waves, the internal dynamic of the movement on the canvas echoes the maritime, drawing a parallel betwen the force of nature and the power of a material you can extract from it.     The set up aims to disrupt this initial stage of lecture by bringing back this gold in a place we believe it does not belong to. The installation is composed by the canevas itself encircled by 8 120F format landscape pictures by Simon Birman. It intends to considerate the power of attraction of this element and the “recontextualization” in its own environment. How society extracts and re shapes the meaning of a natural material to make it its own FLAG OF CONVENIENCE.     Photo credit Simon Birman.
